I was born in October 1944 to James David and Elizabeth Clementine Button in Hopewell, Virginia. I became a Christian in April 1956 in Hopewell.
I have served as an elder at the Manassas Church of Christ since 2003. I have spent my entire professional career as a school teacher in the Manassas area, having started teaching in 1968, and having moved to Manassas in 1974.
I married Beverly Luz in 1973 in Springfield where our families attended the Springfield Church of Christ. We have two children, James David Button, III and Elizabeth Lee Button.
My hobbies consist of reading with a special emphasis on the War Between the States, particularly the Army of Northern Virginia, and touring area Civil War Battlefields. I am also a volunteer at both the Manassas Museum and at Prince William Hospital.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:29 (NIV)
